You'll need to redownload and reinstall 0.9.6, which has a patched Cities Online launcher in it:

    http://www.settlersonline.net/installs/Install_CitiesOnline_v0.9.6.zip

Everything should work correctly again.  Let me know if you have any problems.

    Hi,

I seem to have the same problem as BP11 described. It keeps on asking password. I did reinstall the new version.

BP11, how did you solve it?

I'm getting  the following when I start the program:

"This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

    Any Ideas?

Ok, I managed to get it work. What I did was signing out (upper right corner option), then re-enter my nickname and password. I got a Windows-message that there was some kind of possible harm detected by my firewall. I chose for the option to neglect that possible harm and then I could logg in. Unfortunately there are no games running at this very moment so I can't test a real game, but at least I can sign in now.

Scott, check out Step 1 in the How To Play link:

    http://www.settlersonline.net/extension.php?PostBackAction=HowToPlay

Also, Len again, Windows isn't saying there's something wrong, it's just asking  you if you will allow this program to accept connections through the firewall.  It's the same thing that would happen with any online game that allows you to host games.  You have to Unblock Cities Online in the firewall in order for it to communicate with the site.

I should probably put a note about that in the How To Play section.

    Hi Ethereal,

You are right. My interpretation of the Windows-message was wrong. It just asks you to let the program run. I did unblock Cities Online in the firewall and just hope this is a one time issue.

    Thank you for your answer.

I think it's a one time per version issue.  So you'll only have to Unblock it once until the digital signature of the .exe file changes, which would be when you install a new version.
