Vanilla 1.1.8 is a product of Lussumo. More Information: Documentation, Community Support.
Players can now choose specific options for their unrated games from a list, just like selecting options at the start of a current Sea3D or Cities3D game (though stripped down as some options don't make sense for the site, like editing the decks of development or progress cards).
The only one I've really tested is Volcanoes, but those work, so you can play Volcano games now. :) Also note that the game finding algorithm currently ignores extra options selected, so options will really only come into play if you get selected to host a game. I haven't decided yet how the filter should deal with options. Should it match you only if you match on all options selected, on only a few, or not on any? It will probably be a community decision once we get more players.
Please let me know if any options aren't working as there are a few issues I can foresee that might cause some problems.
I haven't looked yet, but at minimum players should be able to indicate Absolutely Yes, Absolutely No, or I Don't Care for any option.
Of course, at this point, it underscores the need for some kind of chat feature (or link to another site's chat feature) so that the small numbers of folk who are up for games can communicate with each other about options and such.
That's a good idea, though it seems like the UI for it would be pretty cumbersome. I'll have to think about how to not make that overwhelmingly annoying to deal with.
I also have options now working that have some UI attached to them, like # of rounds before a 7 is rolled which you can set to one or two. Unfortunately, it requires a client side change to work properly so it won't be available until I roll out a new version. I plan on doing that soon, though, after adding in a few more tweaks and features to make it worth a whole release (like a separate Events window that splits chat and game events, yay!)
Once I get this release out, I'll have all of the features for unrated games done, and the feature set will be pretty close to what you can do with Sea3D in terms of game setup, at least for how you want the game to actually play.
The next phase will be to start keeping track of games played and adding actual support for rated games, on the site at least.
