I've updated the game finder page and algorithm to support playing any map with any ruleset (standard, cities). Just click on Unranked as the game type and you can now choose a specific map to play on. If you select Any, you'll be matched up with anyone!
Ranked and unranked games don't have any particular meaning right now, but they will in the future. I'm debating whether to put in a ladder system now or work on allowing you to select game options for unranked games. If you've got an opinion, let me know. :)
With this new addition I would think we should be able to increase the flow of players. If everyone that is on here would spread the word over at the s3d site you will probably find more games available. We are working on getting the finder script running all the time, and that will also help.
Is it programatically difficult to give people the option of going into any one of three queues indicating how many people should be put in their game?
My suggestion is that just like a person selects the map and ruleset, a person select a queue representing how many people they'd like to play with.
I guess I'm not a big fan of the 2 person game....or for that matter the 3 person game.
It probably wouldn't be too hard to do something like that. I'll see if I can get it in.
Much appreciated. Glad to see you back and active again. Having 20 years software development (C, C++, OO, PHP, Perl, SQL, etc) experience, as always, I'd like to be involved. But we both know what the challenges are to integrating new people into the development team.
This is now in. You can choose the minimum number of players you want in your game.
