Yep, only six days after the last one (I'm on fire).  This gets all of the basic functionality going between the game and the site, and enables C&K games, which are currently the default.  I'm going on holiday until 8/5, but after that I will be able to update the game matcher to allow players to choose whether to join a rated C&K game or a rated Standard game.

Here are all of the release notes:

The next version (0.9.6) will have all support for rated games, at which point will take the site beta!

have a great holiday!  we had some trouble getting connected, and perhaps there is something with my router settings for hosting??  no hurry with this for me, just take your well deserved holiday and carry on.  i'll check in later in the week and see what i can do.

again, great work on the program. many thanks for all your time and talent in putting this together.

I am still around while Jason is gone, and may be able to help. I won't be doing any client side changes, but I can tweak site code and help out with things people have questions on.

Jason and I played through an entire C&K game before  he left using the site for all connection including rejoins on a drop and a quit. We also had a spectator join from the site. Pretty cool stuff.

MJD, I think the problem with your game was that an instance of Cities3D might still have been running but not visible and so it was preventing Cities3D from launching in response to the site.  If you right click on your toolbar, you can run Task Manager and look for a process called Cities3D.exe.  There shouldn't be any running when you join a game on the site.  The only thing that should be running is CitiesOnline.exe.

ethereal, I thought of that already.  I made sure no Cities3D were running on the Task Manager during a few of the attempts I made with XckerMan.  I think the problem here might be if IE7 is allowed to launch exe's, eh?  I'll bet this is just too risky an activity for a web browser and by default it's not allowed.  Do people need to change their browser settings to allow it to launch Cities3D.exe (and what if they don't have Program Files on their C: drive where it's expected to be...in my case I do have it there, but I'm just asking)?

No, because they are able to launch Cities Online in order to enter their password.  Cities Online is what actually attempts to launch Cities3D.  I've been doing most of my testing with Firefox to this point so I will concentrate more on IE7 if that is what people are using when they are having problems.

I'm using FF3 and had the problem where the website doesn't realize that CitiesOnline is already running. Had to manually exit it several times before it would finally let me join a game. *shrug*
